CNN BUSINESS: Some manufacturers have less than 5 days’ supply of computer chips, Commerce Department warns

New York (CNN Business) Some manufacturers that rely on semiconductors are down to less than five days’ worth of inventory, according to a report released Tuesday by the Commerce Department, in the latest indication of the extent of the computer chip shortage.

Jordan Crenshaw, vice president of the US Chamber of Commerce’s Technology Engagement Center, said the findings on the ongoing shortage “highlights the critical need for the United States to invest in expanding semiconductor capacity.””Congress must get to work on fully implementing and funding the CHIPS Act,” Crenshaw said in a statement.
